Peaky Blinders - Episode 3 review :)!

Wow! yet another wonderful episode of Peaky Blinders! it just never fails to impress does it?. haha :')

This weeks episode primarily saw Tommy and Grace visiting the races. I particularly liked this episode due to the fact that it allowed us to see more of the characters , especially Grace. We usually see her working in the pub and it was a nice change to see her venturing out and giving us an understanding of how she thinks when on her own.

The connection between Tommy and Grace is also heightened and heavily presented within the episode , as they spend their time together at the races. Grace acting as 'eye-candy' for Billy Kimber (Charlie Creed-Miles) and Tommy the negotiator/peace keeper/i'm going to be more powerful than you-er, as he gives kimber the money 'rescued from the Lee Brothers'.

There were many scenes that showed a connection between Grace and Tommy , as the use of flirtatious remarks and awkward silences revealed that the connection is forming well. They are almost compatible as opposites , in the sense that they balance each other out. Grace is represented as an innocent looking but 'strong minded' woman and Tommy a confident , handsome and strong man.. yet underneath bares the fatal scars of war. We can clearly see this in the scene between Tommy and his loyal friend Danny Whizz-bang (Samuel Edward-Cook) as Tommy reveals the ways in which his mind plays tricks on him , allowing him to hear 'the shovels' against the wall as he lays in bed at night.

Carrying on from the idea that Grace is a 'strong minded' woman , it is clear to see that all the woman within the Peaky Blinders are represented as strong female characters , which i obviously admire. Within this episode , i couldn't help but see Grace being represented as a 'Femme Fatale'. The way in which she attracts men with her innocent  appearance and charismatic Irish charms. The fact that she wore a red dress to the races may also reveal her dangerous side and possibly suggesting the previous murder that she had committed , perhaps?.

There was also a lot of tension within this episode , especially between Tommy and Freddy ****ing Thorne. Freddy declares his true love for Tommy's sister Ada and how they will not leave the city. It is clear that Tommy only wants whats best for his sister and now that she could be arrested for just being with Freddy , Tommy has even more on his plate.

The overall cinematic style of this episode was beautiful , thanks to Otto Bathurst's direction and George Steel's cinematography. I especially liked the scene in which you see Grace and Tommy preparing themselves for the races as it was incredibly..well..beautiful.

Anyways... i could go on and on! Although I've spoken more about the connection between Grace and Tommy and probably missed out on some vital scenes! (which wasn't exactly my intention) it doesn't matter! Because you all need to watch PEAKY BLINDERS! Thursday on BBC 2 , 9pm :)

P.S Constructive criticism is welcome! I would love to know what you guys think about my writing and what i could improve on! it would be a great help :) Thank you x
