This is going to be a quick review about the first two episodes of the what i believe , is a very 'gritty' yet beautifully made period crime drama. Similar to 'What Remains'! When i first saw the trailer for 'Peaky Blinders' i instantly took a fancy to the music and overall style of the programme , and knew that i had to watch it. As i have a soft spot for Period drama's, be it involving a lot of crime or love triangles such as Parade's end and Birdsong , i am always fascinated at how earlier life is depicted through such well made programmes.
The overall feel of Episode 1 created a mixture of various emotions for me , as the strong connection that the Shelby family have was very satisfying. I also had a lot of sympathy towards Tommy and his friend who were clearly damaged by the war , by one extent or the other. And i was very interested (And slightly jealous ;) ) at the strange connection between Tommy and Grace (Annabelle Wallis) , who you soon find is spying for Inspector Campbell (Sam Neill) . And so she must get close to Tommy in order to find out where the guns are being kept.
Episode 2 , was even more alluring , especially with the forbidden romance between Ada and Freddie ****ing Thorn ;D I admired Tommy even more in this, as his passion to protect his sister was clearly shown. So far Tommy is my favourite character due to the fact that i find him so mysterious but also very caring. He thinks of others and protects those he loves , yet he can also do the reverse by beating people up and blinding them with his lethal cap ( as razor blades were sewn into the peak of their caps , hence PEAKY BLINDERS! , Clever isn't it?).
When i found out that the 'Peaky Blinders' were a real gang , i was even more intrigued as to watch the Show . As i stated before i am fascinated at watching programmes that depict earlier life in either the most wonderful or gruesome ways.
P.s Sorry this may seemed rushed , i was in a hurry for work :)!.
